Neighborhood utility rehabilitation case study
Crestview Infrastructure Rehabilitation
Project Overview
The Crestview Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project involved comprehensive underground utility installation and site development within an active residential neighborhood. The project focused on upgrading and installing critical infrastructure systems, including storm drainage, water, and sanitary utilities, to support long-term reliability and future development.
Operating within a confined urban environment, the project required precise excavation, safe trenching practices, and careful coordination to minimize disruption while maintaining production efficiency.
Scope of Work
Black Mountain Excavation was contracted to perform underground utility installation and earthwork operations throughout the project area.
Our scope included:
- Deep trench excavation for utility installation
- Installation of water and sanitary sewer systems
- Storm drainage infrastructure, including precast structures and inlets
- Placement of utility vaults and access structures
- Tie-ins to existing municipal infrastructure
- Backfill, compaction, and trench restoration
- Mass earthwork and site grading operations
- Material import/export and site balancing
Our team executed precise trenching and installation operations, ensuring proper depth, slope, and alignment for all underground systems while maintaining safe working conditions.
Challenges & Solutions
The project presented challenges typical of residential infrastructure work, including limited access, varying soil conditions, and the need to work around existing utilities and structures.
Our team addressed these challenges through:
- Controlled trenching and benching for deep excavations
- Strategic material management to maintain a clean and efficient site
- Close coordination during tie-ins to existing systems
- Maintaining proper elevations and slopes for drainage performance
- Efficient equipment deployment in tight working conditions
By maintaining strong field communication and disciplined execution, we ensured all systems were installed accurately and safely.
Timeline & Budget
Construction progressed in phases, with excavation and utility installation aligned to maintain consistent workflow and minimize disruption to the surrounding area.
Black Mountain Excavation maintained schedule efficiency through proactive planning, effective crew coordination, and streamlined earthwork operations, ensuring project milestones were met while upholding safety and quality standards.
Impact & Future
Upon completion, the project will deliver upgraded underground infrastructure designed to improve drainage performance, utility reliability, and long-term site functionality.
This project highlights Black Mountain Excavation’s ability to execute complex underground utility and earthwork operations in active residential environments, delivering dependable results with precision and
