Black Mountain Excavation

Shaping the land for what comes next

Earthwork & excavation

Cut and fill, trenching, grading, soil management, and erosion control with GPS-guided equipment. Commercial and infrastructure earthwork across Colorado.

Black Mountain Excavation

The first step to buildable ground

Earthwork is the essential first step in turning raw land into something buildable. Leveling a site, cutting trenches for utilities, or reshaping terrain for drainage: earthwork sets the foundation, literally and figuratively, for every successful construction project.

Black Mountain Excavation specializes in high-quality, precision earthmoving across Colorado. With advanced equipment and a highly skilled crew, we handle earthwork projects of all sizes with accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism.

We are fully licensed, bonded, and insured, for the safety and protection of our clients and our crews.

Turning terrain into opportunity

  1. 01

    Cut

Take the high ground down. Every pass is planned to spec, for site stability and proper drainage.

  2. 02

    Load

High-capacity equipment moves heavy material fast, cutting downtime and keeping production up.

  3. 03

    Place

Fill the low ground and compact it to grade. GPS guidance means accurate cuts and less waste.

Types of earthwork

We offer a full range of earthmoving for commercial, industrial, and infrastructure work: cut and fill to level construction-ready sites, trenching for pipelines, utilities, and drainage, and grading to shape land for foundations, roads, and landscaping.

Every job is planned to meet spec, keep the site stable, and drain properly.

Power, precision, performance

Equipment built for the job

For large-scale projects we run high-capacity scrapers and pans to move heavy material quickly, cutting downtime and raising production. The fleet includes bulldozers for clearing and grading, excavators for trenching and cut and fill, and motor graders for precision slope work.

Our machines are GPS-guided for accurate cuts, less waste, and consistent compaction, keeping your project on track and on budget.

How the ground gets ready

From raw land to grade

  1. STA 0+00

    01Site prep

Clear the site and set up access so equipment can work safely.

  2. STA 1+00

    02Cut and fill

Take soil from the high ground and place it in the low ground, balanced to keep import and export down.

  3. STA 2+00

    03Grade and compact

GPS-guided machines hold grade; compaction gives a stable base for what comes next.

  4. STA 3+00

    04Trench

Cut trenches for pipelines, utilities, and drainage.

  5. STA 4+00

    05Control erosion

Protect the finished ground and the surrounding land during and after construction.

Soil management strategies

Not all soil behaves the same. Our team is trained to assess and manage clay, silt, sand, and rock, with soil conditioning, stabilization, and compaction strategies that support structural integrity and long-term performance.

Erosion control you can count on

Excavation disrupts natural drainage, so erosion control is part of responsible site work. We use silt fences, erosion control blankets, sediment basins, diversion swales, slope stabilization, revegetation, and drainage grading, all in compliance with local and state regulations.
